Massage

This is a list of modalities that I offer for massages:

Swedish – Designed to relax the entire body. This is achieved by rubbing the muscles with long strokes in the direction of blood flow returning to the heart. Increases the level of oxygen in the blood, increases circulation without increasing heart load, decreasing muscle toxins, flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes from muscles, improves flexibility, eases tension, decreases levels of cortisol (stress), arginine vasopressin (increases in cortisol), increases in the number of lymphocytes, and a boost to the immune cells.

Acupressure – Identical principles as acupuncture.  Increases relaxation and wellness.  Through meridians flows your life force or qi (ch’i).  When a meridian is blocked or out of balance, illness can occur.  Acupressure helps restore balance in your qi when blockage or stagnation occurs.

Sports Massage – Prepares an athlete for peak performance, drains lethargic feeling or fatigue, relieves inflammation, reduces muscle tension, promotes flexibility and helps prevent injuries in muscles.  Stress and tension builds up in soft body tissues during physical activity and this type of massage is designed to alleviate the build up.

Energy Work – Based on the idea that the health of the body and qi depend on stability in the energy fields around the body.  If energy is disturbed a may feel ill or emotionally unwell.  Initiates healing and well-being.  A great suit for patients experiencing feeling of depression, fatigue, anxiousness or unhappy feeling with life.  Can be effective with personal growth.

Pregnancy Massage – Focuses on giving the mother-to-be the special attention she needs, which helps to nurture the new life that is growing within her.

Deep Tissue – Focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.  Helps loosen muscles, releases toxins, gets blood and oxygen circulating properly, and relieves osteoarthritis pain.  With many toxins being released, it is recommended to drink plenty of water after a treatment to help eliminate these toxins from the body.

Clinical Massage – Addresses the deeper muscles of the body as well as the health issues described by the patient.  Our LMT has extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology and is able to address the range of motion limitations and pain associated with injuries by using a variety of modalities.  This type of massage is conducive to the health and treatment of the patient and is the type of massage we offer at this clinic.

Eastern Styles – Involves healing based on energy flow and balance and tries to attain integration of energy in human mind and form. Eastern styles are based on the energy flow and balances within the body. Stimulates and soothes points along energy meridians to create effect on other sites as well as along meridians.

Myo-fascial Release – Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the uneven tightness in injured fascia.  Fascia is a thin tissue that covers all the organs of the body.  Myofascial Release is stretching of the fascia.  Myofascial release affects the fascia as well as its corresponding muscles and connective tissues. Allows the body to heal itself.

Some patients may feel sore after certain massage treatments, but the soreness will subside within a day or two. Therapeutic massages complement medical treatment.  They should not be a replacement to medical help.  I care about your health and well-being.
